Contrapposto's clinical practice is grounded in a simple but rare conviction: that aesthetics is medicine, and should be practiced accordingly. Dedicated to the art of enhancement, the clinic brings an evidence-based, scientifically rigorous framework to the aging process, one in which artistry and clinical discipline are inseparable.

Led by Casey Axelrod-Welk, AGNP, whose background spans cardiology and internal medicine at institutions including Weill Cornell and Mount Sinai, Contrapposto treats each patient as a unique anatomical subject, not a candidate for a protocol. Neuromodulators, dermal fillers, lasers, and healthy-aging therapies are deployed with an artist's touch: informed by anatomy, guided by restraint, and shaped by an ongoing relationship with each patient over time.

The clinical team

Casey Axelrod-Welk, AGNP-C

Casey holds a bachelor's degree from Columbia University and completed a master’s degree and his advanced medical training as a nurse practitioner at Duke University. Over the course of his career, he has held clinical positions at Weill Cornell and Mount Sinai in New York City, and the Men’s Health Foundation and Goodskin Clinics in Los Angeles. He has trained nationwide with leading physicians in aesthetics and wellness, and studied extensively in Amsterdam, Paris, and London to uncover new products and learn advanced regenerative techniques.

Lauren Pietz, APRN

Lauren is a Registered Nurse and clinical professor at UCLA, currently pursuing her nurse practitioner degree. A former women's health nurse, her current practice sits at the intersection of anatomy, evidence-based medicine, and a cultivated eye for art, fashion, and design. Pietz completed her aesthetics training in Europe. At Contrapposto, she incorporates advanced techniques with a measured, clinically rooted, and patient-first approach. Her goal is always to preserve individuality and character to create refined, natural results.

Christina Ramsey, R.N.

Christina's path to aesthetics began with a bachelor’s degree in art history and archaeology from the University of California-Irvine, where she developed an eye for proportion, detail, and beauty. Driven by her desire to care for others, she returned to school to earn her B.S. in Nursing. From there, she worked in inpatient oncology, where she paired her exacting eye with the compassion and steadiness that cancer care demands. Today, as a Senior Injector at Contrapposto, she blends artistry with clinical skill and European techniques, approaching each treatment as a study in natural beauty.
